After organic growth and acquisitions at Ascensus, today its employees use more than 2,000 different cloud applications. After a transition to Microsoft 365, it outgrew its existing on-premises data loss prevention (DLP) solution. It needed to optimize cloud security across the thousands of cloud-based apps.
Ascensus sought visibility into how employees were using cloud solutions so that it could prioritize security around risk. A cloud access security broker (CASB) would provide needed visibility to optimize cloud security.
The CASB solution began tracking app use and established DLP rules for movement of sensitive data out of the corporate network. Now the CASB notes any upload of regulated data to the cloud. The team is using Netskope CASB to evaluate prospective cloud applications as well. Ascensus leverages the CASB’s data on usage to ensure apps conform to its security rules and expectations.
The success of the CASB solution led to using the Netskope Next Gen Secure Web Gateway (SWG), which filters all web traffic, enhancing DLP. Each solution deployed within just one hour. The converged management minimizes ongoing staff time required.
