Hot Topics for RSA Conference 2024

Apr 24 2024

RSA Conference 2024 is almost upon us again, so we reached out to a handful of Netskope experts and asked what they hope or expect to hear about at this year’s show. Here’s what they’ve got on their mind (spoiler alert – there’s a lot of genAI):

“GenAI is still top of mind for most security professionals so I think my RSA session on genAI governance is at the heart of what the audience is looking for. The other topic I expect to hear is ways of managing security in tight economic times. I’m still hearing from CISO’s that their budgets have been restricted so I think that is going to be another strong topic.” James Christiansen, CSO

“For me, it will be adversarial AI, looking at both the malicious capabilities and how we protect against them. There has been a lot of talk around how to safely enable genAI, but this is mainly focussed on ingress and egress data leakage protection and AI infringement which has been the immediate need. But with the mass adoption of AI with LLMs, like all software, we need to think about how we protect ourselves from adversarial attacks which will be specific to AI and different to traditional application security approaches, such as protecting against model extraction, model leeching, model skewing, model poisoning attacks, etc.”  David Fairman, CIO APAC

“I expect to hear a lot about AI from both ends of the spectrum: How vendors are using AI to help improve cybersecurity defenses and how attackers are using AI offensively. I’m looking forward to hearing about novel approaches to applying AI to solve cybersecurity challenges.” Ray Canzanese, Head of Netskope Threat Labs

“I am excited to delve into the integration of generative AI and quantum technologies within the cybersecurity field. This powerful combination holds immense potential for addressing a wide range of cybersecurity challenges, including deepfake detection, data loss prevention, and the identification of advanced threats. Quantum computing’s unparalleled processing capabilities can significantly enhance the performance of generative AI models, enabling more effective analysis of vast data sets and the development of sophisticated AI-driven security solutions.

Together, these technologies will be able to streamline operations, increase efficiency in the implementation of security measures, and create robust models that learn to discern between authentic and synthetic media, anomalous behaviors, and emerging attack patterns. I am looking forward to exploring these innovative approaches and their broader implications for the future of cybersecurity.” Mike Anderson, Global CIO

“If you thought genAI was a big deal last year, get ready to become overwhelmed. We know many security companies are using AI platforms to perform better threat protection and streamline operations. I am excited to learn how enterprises are thinking about enabling all these new genAI applications that are in the public domain or being built in-house across their user base in a secure way. I know Compliance and Legal teams are very worried, but shutting it down is not an option. Every Fortune 500 company is embracing genAI, or they will get left behind, so I am looking forward to learning what the biggest companies in the world are doing for security.” Andy Horwitz, VP, Business Development
