Longtime Netskopers Reflect on 10 Years of Netskope

Oct 18 2022

As Netskope celebrates 10 years as a company this month, we reached out to some longtime Netskopers, asking them to reflect on their time here with this question:

“Reflecting on your time at Netskope, what has it been like watching the company evolve/change? What excites you about the future of Netskope?”

Here are some of their responses:

“I started working as a consultant with Netskope in May 2013 and converted to a full-time employee in March 2014. When I began, we had fewer than 25 employees and had just opened the office in Bangalore, India. The leadership teams have changed and grown, the very small team I started with in 2013 is now more than 2,000 employees and we now have employees in 30+ countries instead of just two when I first started with Netskope. From an HR perspective, we have also grown our team to better support our employees and managers and will continue to do so as needed. We have gone from “scrappy and make it happen” to a more mature, intentional team working to enable Netskopers to realize their full potential, enhance the employee’s experience, and maintain our awesome culture.

Ten years have gone by, but we are only at the tip of the iceberg. This is what excites me. We have so much potential ahead of us and I’m excited to see Netskope become an iconic security company.”

-Sharon Strong, Head of Human Resources

“More than eight years ago, when I first saw a demo of the Netskope platform, I knew our founding engineers had built something very special and relevant for the future of security, and I knew this was the company I wanted to be part of. Now, eight years on and I am even more bullish about Netskope than ever before and know we have a truly once in a career opportunity ahead of us.”

-Tony Burnside, VP, Regional Sales, Asia Pacific

“Over the years, Netskope has made a lot of progress, which makes me feel proud to be a part of the company’s accomplishments. From a small office in Los Altos to a state of the art building in Santa Clara, I saw the growth of the company pay off as we began to expand further. The innovation, as well as meeting smart and talented people, makes me excited about the future of Netskope. Being able to see how well everyone works together reassures me that growth is happening in the company, and that everyone plays an important part in our continuing development.”

-Irish Finuliar, Office Manager

“To me, Netskope has always looked like a promising, precocious child that could only be limited by its “execution ability” to succeed and not by the opportunities. In the early years we laid the foundations of our values and one example sticks out for me. Early engineers at Netskope were a bunch of packet processing wizards consumed by building what we then called the “inline” product. As we took the product to market—we learned the market wanted “discovery” and not the inline product. I remember how the entire team dropped everything we were doing and helped research apps and build the “discovery” product. To me, the success of that product laid the foundation for our “Customers First” value.”

-Alok Kothari, Managing Director for Netskope India

“Working for Netskope continues to be the best kind of working experience–the kind that after 6+ years still empowers you and makes you feel like you’re part of something where the extra mile never goes unnoticed. Pair that with a great culture that doesn’t hold you down, and you feel like a winner every day.”

-Irina Palici, Global Campaign Manager, EMEA

“It’s been an honor to be part of the Netskope journey since the early days. The evolution I’ve witnessed has been tremendous—from a product to a platform, from a category creator to leader, from dozens of people to thousands, from a single room office to locations around the world. Just as remarkable, though, are the things that have remained constant—the culture, perseverance, strength of leadership, and dedication of the people I enjoy working side-by-side with every day. I’m very excited about the future of Netskope as we continue, as a team, to push through, build, and find new heights.”

-Scott Hogrefe, VP, Corporate Marketing and Communications
