The Challenge

How does a leading real estate company protect its cloud-first enterprise, enable seamless employee experiences, and protect new business streams?

Prologis began its cloud-first journey 12 years ago, while most other businesses were just getting to grips with the cloud’s potential.

As the company shifted away from legacy IT, its focus has been on building secure and seamless connectivity to support its growing workforce, modern applications, and evolving business needs.

“Ensuring a high-quality user experience has been our top priority,” explains Tyler Warren, Deputy Information Security Officer at Prologis. “Our company culture demands that technology never stands in the way of getting work done. Ideally, it should make that work easier.”

However, the company’s early VPN deployments led to an increase in help desk tickets, especially from its employees who regularly traveled and found themselves in captive portals at hotels or airports. These connectivity issues at times strained the company’s IT resources with time-consuming troubleshooting. That experience helped inform a critical decision: Any new solution had to work anywhere, anytime, and with zero disruption.

In parallel, Prologis is expanding its business interests and working to adapt to new potential challenges when it comes to information security. Warren comments: “Protecting our employees, customers, and investors is our top priority. Security is no longer confined to traditional endpoints, it now includes key infrastructure, regulatory commitments, and grid-integrated systems. It’s critical to get things right.”

The Solution

Enabling a resilient and user-friendly, cloud-first business

Prologis’ shift to remote working, an evolving threat landscape, and its reevaluation of legacy tools drove the company to rethink its connectivity and security strategy, leading to the adoption of a Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) architecture built on the Netskope One Security Service Edge (SSE). Netskope One SSE, an important subset of Netskope One SASE, consolidates critical security services to enable secure access to web, cloud, and private apps for the hybrid workforce.

Prologis, having partnered with Netskope before, engaged them to help in this process. “Netskope had already proven its value during COVID, when it enabled enhanced data loss prevention [DLP] directly on endpoints, a gap that its legacy VPN couldn’t fill,” explains Warren. “We were also attracted by Netskope’s ability to provide cloud coverage in China, as this is an important market.”

The company was also looking for coverage to support its Latin American operations.

A coordinated effort across infrastructure, cloud, endpoint, and network teams, the Netskope One SASE deployment took just 30 days to complete. “Unlike organizations that lift and shift workloads into the cloud, we had re-architected our systems from the ground up, which made the move to SSE and SASE much easier,” adds Warren.

With Netskope in place, Prologis has extended visibility and control across its environment, and the solutions integrated seamlessly with its data lake strategy. “By streaming logs from Netskope and other tools into this lake, we created a unified view of our security landscape,” says Warren. “This bridges endpoint data, cloud events, and user activity for smarter analytics and faster response. As a result, we have a more resilient, scalable, and user-friendly security posture.”

The Results

Creating a high-performance user experience for remote workers

One of the biggest wins is an improved user experience. Employees now enjoy seamless, secure access from anywhere, with no latency tradeoffs. Performance and productivity are also up. “We’ve experienced performance gains across all our 20 countries,” says Warren.

Prologis’ security team benefits from greater control and visibility with Netskope, gaining insights into where users go and what they do online. This visibility enables the definition of more granular, context-aware policies, strengthening overall protection across its global environment.

Operationally, Netskope has reduced the burden on the network team while empowering the security team to take on expanded responsibilities. Relationships across IT have improved, with security and networking teams collaborating more effectively.

Netskope has also proved cost-effective. “Replacing multiple tools and licenses with a unified platform has led to savings,” comments Warren. This includes allowing the company to leverage the NewEdge Network’s native support for dedicated egress IPs to simplify network complexity and bolster Prologis’ security, especially for SaaS and cloud apps.

User feedback is overwhelmingly positive. “I’ve had management and end-users compliment a rollout, citing a seamless experience, better performance, and no tickets. That’s a huge win,” adds Warren.

For Prologis, Netskope is a true, value-adding partner. Netskope’s team is trusted, accessible, and genuinely invested in Prologis’ success.
